Exclusive! The release of Dhanush's Maaran in December depends on the arrival of Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan

We had told you recently that Vikram Prabhu's Taanakkaran is eyeing a premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. The latest news doing the rounds in Kollywood with regard to the OTT platform is that Dhanush's Maaran and Hip Hop Adhi's Anbarivu might also have direct-to-OTT releases on the same avenue.
The former has Karthick Naren at the helm while the latter has been directed by Aswin Raam. The first look of Maaran which has Malavika Mohanan playing the female lead, was released a couple of months ago. On the other hand, the first look of Anbarivu was unveiled earlier this year, and the project has Kashmira Pardeshi essaying the female lead.
Interestingly, both the movies are bankrolled by veteran producer TG Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films. However, when OTTplay reached out to a source close to the production house, they denied any development pertaining to OTT release of the two projects.
The source said, "The news doing the rounds is a rumour. We haven't initiated any talks with OTT platforms for the digital premiere of our movies. Anbarivu will be censored next week and the post-production of Maaran is underway. The theatrical release of both the projects depends on the release window post the performances of Deepavali releases."
The source adds that Maaran is likely to have a theatrical release in December provided a big ticket flick which is expected to release in the same month postpones their plans. It said, "If Suriya's Etharkkum Thunindhavan does not make it to the screens in December, Maaran will hit the screens. For now, all eyes are on the Deepavali releases."
Dhanush's last theatrical release was Karnan (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) which hit the screens in April while Hip Hop Adhi's Sivakumarin Sabadham made it to the screens a month ago.
