The filmmaker, who helmed Thaneer Mathan Dinangal and Super Sharanya, tells us that he has two scripts in mind
With the success of Super Sharanya, director Girish AD has proved that he is not a one-hit wonder and he’s here to stay. However, unlike his debut film Thaneer Mathan Dinangal and his sophomore effort Super Sharanya, the filmmaker would next be doing a film that will move away from the problems of the youth.
In an interview with OTTplay ahead of Super Sharanya’s release, Girish told us, “I have two scripts in mind – one written by my friend and another that I have penned. However, there’s still no clarity on when I would start work on my next film. But the movie will be of a different genre with more experienced talents.”
Both Thaneer Mathan Dinangal and Super Sharanya had the filmmaker work with young talents such as Mathew Thomas, Anaswara Rajan, Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, playing the central roles, with supporting acts from actors such as Vineeth Sreenivasan and Arjun Ashokan.
When asked about the reason he opted to follow up the superhit Thaneer Mathan Dinangal with another youth-centric film in Super Sharanya, the director said, “I still don’t think I have the confidence to make a movie with a big star. Super Sharanya was a project that took shape quickly; I had this thought and all of us were excited about it,” he said.
The movie revolves around a coy girl named Sharanya (Anaswara) from Kollengode, Palakkad, who comes to study in an engineering college in Thrissur. Through her interactions with friends and the multiple incidents surrounding the men who fall for her, Sharanya finds herself. Apart from Anaswara, Mamitha, Naslen and Arjun Ashokan, the movie also has Vineeth Vishwam, Vineeth Vasudevan, Sajin Cherukayil, Varun Dhara and a cameo by Antony Varghese, who appears as the friend of Arjun’s character.
