The actor's Malli Modalaindi is also scheduled to release on ZEE5 later this week
Actor Sumanth, who's been selective about his films over his two-decade career in Telugu cinema, has a busy year lined up ahead. While his romantic comedy Malli Modalaindi is releasing directly on ZEE5 on February 11, he has wrapped up shooting for the dark comedy, Anaganaga Oka Rowdy, which is currently in its post-production phase. He is only a few days away from finishing his portions for a supporting role in Dulquer Salmaan's next with Hanu Raghavapudi and his other film as a solo lead, Aham Reboot, directed by Prashanth Sagar Atlluri.
Aham Reboot will have Sumanth playing an RJ for the first time in his career. Sharing his excitement about being a part of it, the actor says, "It's a completely different kind of film - an experimental thriller of sorts. I don't want to talk too much about it but I can say no one will expect that kind of a film to be made here. It's not the regular role of a loud-mouth RJ. The character is rather composed and has his own share of ups and downs in his life. It's a story of a guy who goes down and out, seeks redemption. The format is new and the first-of-its-kind in Telugu. We have another week of shoot to go."
During the launch of the film in November 2021, the makers had said, "The reference to Aham in the title isn't about ego, arrogance or pride but it's a reference to their own self and how the character is trying to be a better version of himself, the makers added." Sriram Madduri is roped in as the the music director while Varun Ankarla is cranking the camera for the same. Aham Reboot is bankrolled by Raghuveer Goriparthi and Srujan Yerabolu jointly under Vayuputra Entertainments and S Originals.
Meanwhile, talking about Anaganaga Oka Rowdy, the remake of the 2018 Malayalam release that starred Biju Menon, he said, "Anagananga Oka Rowdy, which is currently in its post-production phase. It's a masala character yes, but in a Guy Ritchie, Soodhu Kavvum, Swamy Ra Ra kind of a setting."
