Srijit Mukherji’s series Feludar Goyendagiri will be released on June 17 on Hoichoi with Satyajit Ray’s Darjeeling Jawmjawmat. Two weeks before the release, the Bengali streaming platform announced a collaboration with Dolby Atmos, through which the new Feluda series will have cutting-edge sound technology for an immersive experience. According to the platform, its other flagship shows, including Anirban Bhattacharya’s Mandar and digital film premieres, will also have this advanced-technology sound system.

Explaining the initiative, Soumya Mukherjee, COO of Hoichoi, told exclusively to OTTPlay, “We aim to provide our users the best experience with Bengali content. Bringing such an impactful sound system is a step towards that. Now all our major series, as well as digital premiere films, will be streamed in this sound system.”

Filmmaker Srijit is also excited about the new technology. “As a filmmaker, one of your aims is to strike a connection with the viewer – to entertain them and take them deeper into your story. While making a film, we painstakingly mix the sound of any project. Any technology that showcases this effort makes me happy. I am excited to release the series with cutting-edge sound technology,” the director told us.

According to Sameer Seth, director of Dolby Atmos, the technology allows to plot sound in any given space and any Dolby-enabled device can present the experience to the viewers. “Sound-wise, there will be no difference between mobile phone and TV. Since sound can be plotted anywhere, the experience will be way more immersive than before,” he said.

Based on Ray’s detective character, Feludar Goyendagiri features Tota Roy Chowdhury as Feluda, Anirban Chakrabarti as Jatayu and Kalpan Miktra as Topshe. The series will also have Rahul, Barun Chanda and others in important roles.

Meanwhile, Srijit’s ‘futuristic’ love story X=Prem was released on June 3.
