The Bengali show was directed by Sayantan Ghosal. In the show, Sohini (Sampurna) and Rajnandini (Nandini) play sisters-in-law whose husbands are brothers. Soon after her marriage, Nandini becomes a victim of domestic violence and her husband rapes her regularly. When her entire family refuses to come forward for her support, Sampurna stands by her and fights for justice. The show features Anubhav Kanjilal, Prantik Banerjee, Labnoni Sarkar, and others in the lead.
After the popularity of its first season, the second season of Sampurna was dropped last year. This time, the show deals with sexual harassment of children. Along with Sohini and Rajnandini, the show features Kaushik Sen as one of the key characters.
This is not the first time a Hoichoi series has been remade in another Indian language. Earlier, the platform’s hit show Ishaa Saha’s Indu was remade in Telugu with Avika Gor in the lead. The name of the show is Vadubvu. Another Hoichoi show – Bangladeshi production, Syed Ahmed Shawki’s Taqdeer which features Chanchal Chowdhury and Shohel Rana in the lead – was also made in Telugu with JD Chakrtavarthy in the lead.
