The actor was nervous when he began shooting for the film
Actor Sikandar Kher has been receiving a lot of positive response from the audience for his performance in the newly released neo-noir thriller film, Monica, O My Darling.
The actor plays Nishikant Adhikari in the film, who is from a privileged background. The story is about how he gets into a certain situation and what follows.
About working on the film, Sikandar told OTTplay, "While working with Vasan (Bala, director) was the most exciting part of this project, I must say that the first day of shoot was very different. I can't even tell you how nervous I was. In the film, there's a scene that comes at an interesting point in the story and changes everything. During the narration and the breaking down of the scene, I asked Vasan if we would be starting my portion with that scene. He said, 'No, we will start with some lighter scenes', and usually, that is how it happens. I was a little jittery about starting with an intense scene, because I wanted to get into the groove of the film and the character, and then shoot that specific sequence."
However, things changed during the pandemic.
"The pandemic struck and our schedule, planning and finding the property to shoot at — everything went for a toss. After the second lockdown ended, we got together and when I asked Vasan about the shoot plan, he said that there was no other option but to begin shooting my portions from that critical scene. So, I was very nervous on the first day of the shoot. Eventually, everything fell into place, and we achieved what we wanted. But yes, I remember being extremely nervous on the first day of the shooting," shared Sikandar.
Monica, O My Darling is an adaptation of the 1989 Japanese novel titled Burutasu No Shinzou.
Directed by Vasan Bala, the film also stars Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor and Sukant Goel.
Monica, O My Darling is streaming on Netflix.
