The film, which is scripted by M Sindhuraj, also has Aju Varghese and Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam fame Anagha Narayanan as part of the cast
Director Shafi’s comedy entertainers such as Kalyanaraman, Pulival Kalyanam and Two Countries had been a repeat watch for many during the grim pandemic times. The filmmaker is now shooting for another movie in the genre featuring Sharafudheen and Indrans as the lead characters.
The yet-to-be-titled movie, which went on floors last week, is scripted by M Sindhuraj, who had earlier written hit films such as Munthirivalikkal Thallirkkumbol, Elsamma Enna Aankutty and Puthiya Mugam. Talking exclusively to OTTplay, the scriptwriter says, “This is a comedy entertainer. It is a story that revolves around a family and is told through humour. Indrans and Sharafudheen play a father-in-law and son-in-law, respectively, and the movie revolves around the incidents that happen between the duo.”
Apart from Sharafudheen and Indrans, the film has Anagha Narayanan of Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam fame, Aju Varghese and Baiju Santosh playing the other pivotal characters in the entertainer, which has music composed by Shaan Rahman. What also sets the film apart is that both the filmmaker and the scriptwriter are working with a cast that they haven’t collaborated much with before. Sharafudheen had previously worked with Shafi only in Children’s Park. “When you are writing for actors you haven’t worked with before, there’s always something new you can bring in and I believe this film has those elements,” says Sindhuraj.
The movie’s prime locations are Kollengode in Palakkad and Guruvayoor. On the release platform, Sindhuraj says, “We are currently planning it as a theatrical release but will take a call on it only after the film’s shoot is complete and the post-production wraps up.”
Sharafudheen, meanwhile, has a host of movies lined up for release this year. He has completed shooting for Antony Sony’s Priyan Ottathilaanu and Senna Hegde’s 1744WA. He is also part of Mammootty’s film with Nissam Basheer, which is touted to be a thriller.
