When we called Ragini Dwivedi about her new Kannada film, the actress was in the midst of a business lunch in Hyderabad, btu was more than happy to quickly update us about her new signing. “I have just signed up for a remarkably interesting suspense thriller called Bingo, the official muhurtha of which will be tomorrow morning in Bengaluru. We go on floors only in January next year, by which time I am hoping to finish up some of my other acting commitments, including my Tamil projects. I am not at liberty to disclose much about Bingo or my character, but what I can say is that I was drawn to it because the role has a dual shade to it. When you see this character, you form an impression based on what you see, but it then turns out to be something else altogether. As an artiste, the character seems quite interesting,” she says.

Ragini adds that she is excited about being a part of Bingo. “The director, Shankar, is very talented and his team is a bunch of youngsters, raring to do something different. As an actor, who has worked with all kind of people in the industry, I think it is important to be open to working with newer talents, as far as filmmakers and technicians go. And in this day and age, the script is the king. I have always been a risk-taker with the choices in my career because you never know what will click where and how. When you start a project, you will not know for sure if it will be a hit or a flop, but you must take a chance and give it an opportunity because it is different,” says the actress, who recently wrapped her portions in director Prashant Raj’s Tamil debut Kick, which has Santhanam and Tanya Hope in the lead.

In Tamil cinema, Ragini is also working on a film called E-mail, an action suspense thriller about online gaming, directed by Rajan. Her film with Sundar C, One 2 One, is also nearly done, she says. The actress, who is awaiting the release of the multi-lingual Sorry Karma Returns, a revenge drama, which will be her first release since 2019’s Adhyaksha in America, has also lined up another Kannada film called Nan Obba Bharatiya, in which she will play a commando. “This will be a slightly physically challenging role, for which I have begun training. I am looing at upskilling with some martial arts as well, even though the film is not high on action,” she says.
