Exclusive! Poonam Pandey: When I look at my family I wonder ‘Did I do something wrong?’

Poonam Pandey. Every person would have a certain image in their mind while talking about the name. Sometimes Poonam herself has to deal with predators who simply troll her for being herself. While talking to OTTplay, the actress revealed that these trolls do not only bother her but also her family.

“It bothers my family and especially my younger sister, who is lawyer. She’s like a completely educated girl who is a typical lawyer. She’s 25,” Poonam shares.

The model-actress dived into the film industry and made her debut with Vikram Bhatt’s Nasha. The movie stereotyped her as a sensual actress, after which Poonam went back to modelling and became a social media star.

“I stopped my education half-way because I got an offer for modelling. My entire family is more educated than me. In front of that, I come out as Poonam Pandey,” she shared.

Poonam’s family raises the question about what is she doing in life, which leaves her wondering if she went wrong in life. The actress hints that she regrets not pursuing further education.

The actress quoted, “Sometimes I look at me and wonder, “Did I do something wrong?” Even my cousins are super educated and doing so much in life. They look at me and question my choices.”

Poonam also sees the other side of the coin – about how people in her family meet people who want to talk to her because she is famous. Thus, she adds, “While I do question myself, there are also times when my cousins call me and tell me that their colleagues are a fan of mine and want to talk to me. That is when I’m like, hell yeah! I brag about the fact that I’m Poonam Pandey. It’s fun.”

Coming from a middle class Brahmin family, Poonam’s family took their own time to accept the fact. Her mother, though, is still getting used to everything. Talking about the same, Poonam shared, “Thankfully, my family, except my mother, is also okay now. She still shouts at me for all that I do.”

Poonam is a part of Kangana Ranaut-hosted show Lock Upp. She will be talking about all the controversies of her life – the ones she regrets and the ones she really wishes to talk about.

The reality show, backed by Ekta Kapoor, will start airing from February 27. It will be available on AltBalaji and MX Player.
