Thaneermathan Dinangal’s Naslen and Mathew Thomas will play the leads along with Nikhila Vimal in debutant director Arun D Jose’s film titled Jo and Jo, which began shooting today in Koothattukulam.

On the movie’s genre, Arun, who has also scripted the film with Ravish Nath, tells OTTplay, “The film is a family drama, which comes under the young adult genre; it’s essentially a coming-of-age tale. So, it has incidents revolving friends, siblings and family and is a fun movie.”

Ask him about the characters that the lead trio plays and he says, “We want to keep those details under the wraps for now.” The team will complete the movie in a single schedule in Ernakulam, Idukki and Kottayam.

Arun, who has worked in the industry for the past 12 years, reveals that the technical team too will have a relatively young team in tune with the theme of the movie. While Govind Vasantha handles the music department, Kala’s editor Chamman Chacko and Ishq’s cinematographer Ansarsha are also part of the crew. Johnny Antony and Leena Antony are also part of the cast.

Naslen and Mathew Thomas had earlier starred in Thaneermathan Dinangal, which went on to become a superhit. This year, Naslen was part of two direct-to-OTT releases, Kuruthi and #Home, both of which are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Mathew, meanwhile, was part of Mammootty’s One, which is available on Netflix, and Operation Java, streaming on Zee5.

Nikhila has wrapped up the shoot of Joju George’s Madhuram and Asif Ali’s Kothth. Her previous release was Mammootty and Manju Warrier’s The Priest, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
