The Malayalam superstar began shooting for the 3D children’s fantasy film in December 2021
Mohanlal is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that his directorial debut is as perfect as can be. The actor resumed shooting the movie in December 2021 and his close aide Sameer Hamsa now tells us that the work for the film will go on till May this year.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Sameer says that the actor is immersed in the project. “The shoot of the film will go on till May. There’s still a lot to be done,” he says. “In between, every week, Lal sir will also be travelling to Mumbai to film Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 4 episodes.”
Last week, Mohanlal had travelled to Mumbai to film the Grand Opening episode of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 4 and had returned on Saturday, and immediately joined the shoot of Barroz in Kochi.
The film is touted to be the biggest project Mohanlal is attached to. It’s a 3D children’s fantasy, which has Santosh Sivan as its cinematographer, and revolves around the relationship between a 300-year-old treasure guardian named Barroz and a girl named Isabella. Barroz is scripted by Jijo Punnoose, who had helmed India’s first 3D film My Dear Kuttichathan.
The movie, which also has Guru Somasundaram and a bunch of foreign actors, had begun its shoot in April last year, but had to halt due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in Kerala. Prithviraj Sukumaran was also part of the cast back then and had shoot for a week. However, when the team resumed the shoot in December, Prithviraj opted out due to scheduling commitments and Mohanlal decided to reshoot all the portions for the movie.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s next release will be the Jeethu Joseph directorial 12th Man, which is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar on April 14. The actor has also completed shooting for Vyaskh’s Monster and Shaji Kailas’ Alone.
