Exclusive: Mohanlal to begin shooting for Jeethu Joseph’s next before Bro Daddy

The makers are currently awaiting the government’s permission to begin the shoot of the film,

Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph’s collaborations have resulted in massive successes – both in theatres and on OTTs. After teaming up for Drishyam and Drishyam 2, the duo will now work on another movie that will begin shoot soon.

While rumours were rife that Mohanlal will next join Prithviraj’s directorial Bro Daddy, we have confirmed that the superstar will work on another project first. Director Jeethu tells OTTplay, “My film will begin before Bro Daddy. It’s a movie that can be shot keeping in mind the pandemic restrictions. We are currently awaiting the government's permission to start the shoot. Lalettan will only join Bro Daddy after he completes shooting for our film.”

Is the project Drishyam 3? “No,” says Jeethu. There were also reports that producer Antony Perumbavoor had sold the digital rights of Bro Daddy and the upcoming Jeethu directorial for a record Rs 65 crore to Amazon Prime Video. However, Jeethu tells us, “I am not aware of that.”

Mohanlal and Jeethu had also teamed up for another big-budget thriller Ram before the pandemic. The team had completed the shoot of more than half the film when the nationwide lockdown was announced. With the next portions set to be shot abroad, especially in London, Jeethu says that they are waiting for the situation to get better before resuming the movie, which also has Trisha, Indrajith and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Bro Daddy is a family entertainer, which is set to be directed by Prithviraj. In an interview with us, Prithviraj had told us, “I just think that, especially given the type of content that is being produced and created in the past one and half years, all of us badly need a happy film. At least, personally, I would like to see one that puts a smile on your face and you laugh through it; something that gives you a few hours of happiness, nothing more than that. That’s when I heard this script. It really appealed to me and it made me realise how much we have missed a film like this. In my mind, it was never meant to be a huge multi-starrer or anything. I thought it was so different from what I am used to as a filmmaker. And then I casually narrated this script to Lalettan and immediately, he said we are doing it. That’s how it took off.”
