Prajukta Kohli, Rohit Saraf, Taaruk Raina starrer web series Mismatched Season 2 is streaming on Netflix,
Multi-talented actor-singer-song-writer Taaruk Raina in conversation with OTTplay, shares how playing a disabled character in the much-loved web series Mismatched, that is starring Prajukta Kohli and Rohit Saraf as lead, made him emotionally mature more resilient.
In the show, the young actor is portraying the character of Anmol Malhotra, one of the students of Aravalli Institute and friends with Dimple, played by Prajukta.
Taaruk told OTTplay, " The character of Anmol is very close to my heart because I have embraced a lot of qualities from him. Playing a disabled character was obviously challenging for me as an actor but I have learned to be more tolerant, and resilient and stay motivated in crisis by not giving up. At times we do not even appreciate how we are blessed with all the basics that we have. I was doing one of the scenes and just by realising that if Amol falls off the wheelchair, he won't be able to get up without help, or as basic as wearing clothes - could be so challenging for him, made me realise how empowering he is as character."
Though it is only natural to admire the never give up the spirit of Anmol, Tarruk also mentioned that he had to walk a tightrope.
"There is a thin line that I had to maintain when I am playing a character like Anmol because I wanted to play him as empowered and not bechara just because he is differently abled. When we were shooting for the new season also since the character has evolved, I was sure to stay motivated and spirited exactly like Anmol is; but without treating him as anyone with anything less. Hopefully, I have done justice to it," said the actor.
The story of the show is based on the Sandhya Menon's novel When Dimple Met Rishi. The book is adapted by Gazal Dhaliwal and the show is directed by Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari; also features Rannvijay Singha and Vidya Malvade in pivotal roles, streaming on Netflix.
