Arun Koushik, who helmed the recently released Tamil web series Meme Boys, said that the team was elated to collaborate with SonyLIV. The project, which stars Aadhitya Bhaskar, Guru Somasundaram, Namritha, Jayanth, Siddharth and Badava Gopi in lead roles, dropped on the digital platform on Friday.

In a chat with OTTplay, Arun said, "The project became bigger after we joined hands with SonyLIV. We were excited to team up with such a leading platform which made popular series like Scam 1992 and Rocket Boys. The brand value of the platform really helped us and instilled confidence in the team. They made things quite easy for us in all stages of production and post-production."

On making his OTT debut, Arun said that he kept in his mind what Mahendra Singh Dhoni had once told about the difference between playing ODI and test matches.

Arun said, "According to him, every day of a test match is an ODI match. I used to follow the same strategy. I never looked at it as a different format, I went to shooting spots every day with the mindset that I was helming a one-day project." He also added that the whole filmmaking process is the same except for the fact that the duration of the project is long.

The USP of Meme Boys, he said, is that they have created social media as one of the important characters in the project. It drives the plot and character arc.

He said, "We were keen on utilizing social media as a tool to drive emotions. This is also the first project which is based on memes and meme creators. The conflict between an egoistic college dean and creative students who are into memes is the prime highlight of the project. Moreover, youngsters will be able to relate to the light-hearted nature of the series."
