The chef says that for him, normal is boring,
From being one of the youngest executive chefs of his time to making his mark as a celebrity chef internationally and trying his hand at acting in Modern Love: Mumbai, Chef Ranveer Brar has done it all.
In a special conversation with OTTplay, we asked him about the importance of taking risks in life, especially to become a chef, in a profession that demands a lot of physical and mental hard work.
Answering the question in quite a filmy style, Ranveer told OTTplay, "Dekho, risk hai to ishq hai! There is no fun and sense of achievement unless you take risks for something that you are passionate about."
Referring to Chef Vikas Khanna's achievements, who is a filmmaker and an author alongside being a Michelin-star chef, having won awards internationally, Ranveer added, "One of the best examples of taking risk is Vikas. Anybody would wonder why he is taking the risk of making films and writing books when he has a highly successful career as a chef. But he is very proudly chasing the Oscar now...that's his dream and he is taking risks to achieve that. Unless you take a risk, you do not discover your inner strength."
In the promos of MasterChef India Season 7, one can see participants who have left their jobs to follow their passion for cooking. Some want to cook to keep family recipes alive, while others want to establish their identity by making food that has history and tradition attached to different cuisines.
Ranveer pointed out, "When it comes to my life, I have taken risks all my life. Normal was always boring for me. Look, there is a balance we have to find between risk and rewards. If the reward is something that you are passionate about, then you are at the right place to take the risk."
Ranveer, along with Vikas Khanna and Garima Arora will host MasterChef India Season 7, which airs from January 2, 2023, on SonyLIV and Sony Entertainment Television.
