Actor Amit Sial who plays a pivotal part in Kathmandu Connection season 2, opens up on music and storytelling.
The song Syahi Syahi Ho Rahi hai is perhaps one of the long-last impactful tracks that still plays in the mind of the audience even after they finish watching the web series Kathmandu Connection Season 2, which was released 72 hours ago. Living at a time when original songs are less in numbers and overshadowed by the rehashed version of 90's chartbusters mostly, it is a rare gem that the listeners have found.
In conversation with one of the protagonists of the show Amit Sial, OTTplay digs deeper into the importance of music and poetry in storytelling.
Taking the reference to the song, Amit told OTTplay, " I think there is a power in poetry, music that adds another layer to the narrative. It is all about how you are placing the song and what is unsaid that the song is bringing out, of the situation or the character. It is very powerful. Syahi Syahi is one such powerful song that says a lot about the narrative of Kathmandu Connection. Yes, it is true that these days we tend to believe that if it is a realistic story then a song does not fit there. No, I do not think so. Whether it is dialogue, song, or background music, everything is a very important part of the storytelling."
The actor who earlier appeared in the web series Maharani, a story that is set in rural Bihar also mentioned how the dialogues and BGM of that show were appropriate for the world it showed.
"At times in real life, we see more dialogue-baazi than what we could imagine sitting in an urban pocket. So everything that we are bringing to the table, has to belong to the world of the story. Look, in the name of reality, we cannot show something boring, it has to be engaging. Music, poetry and songs have the power to do so," explained Amit.
The song is written by Raj Shekhar, sung by Rajan Batra, Sunetra Banerjee and Shrikant Krishna and the music is given by Sneha Khanwalkar.
The web series Kathmandu Connection: Season 2, which is also featuring - Gopal Datt, Anshumaan Pushkar, Aksha Pardasany, Prashant Narayanan, Harleen Sethi and Anuraag Arora along with Amit Sial - is streaming on SonyLIV.
