The ‘mass’ action-entertainer, directed by Shaji Kailas, will be Prithviraj’s next release after Jana Gana Mana
With Jana Gana Mana, Prithviraj Sukumaran had a theatrical release after two years. However, the lack of a theatrical outing during the pandemic hardly dimmed the star’s pull in theatres as the film has gone on to be a superhit. The makers of the actor’s next release, Kaduva, will be hoping that it too continues the momentum of Jana Gana Mana.
In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Kaduva’s scriptwriter Jinu V Abraham shared an update on the ‘mass’ action entertainer’s release date. “We are currently planning to release it in theatres by the end of June,” he said, about the Shaji Kailas directorial.
Kaduva, which has Prithviraj playing the role of a Mundakkayam-based planter named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan who butts heads with the cops in his village, also has Vivek Oberoi, Samyuktha Menon, Arjun Ashokan, Baiju Santosh, Rahul Madhav and Seema as part of the cast.
Meanwhile, Jinu is also teaming up with Prithviraj for Kaapa, which the scriptwriter will be co-producing. The upcoming film, directed by Venu, is written by G Indugopan.
“We will be kicking off Kaapa on June 1 in Thiruvananthapuram,” Jinu tells us. “The movie has been planned to be completed in two schedules. Asif Ali, Manju Warrier and Anna Ben’s portions will be completed in June and Prithviraj will join the sets in July during its second schedule.”
Prithviraj is currently shooting for Blessy’s Aadujeevitham in Algeria. The team is expected to wrap up the shoot of the film, based on Benyamin’s eponymous novel, in Jordan by June and return next month.
Kaapa, which is based on the Kerala Anti-social Activities Act of 2007 that was enforced to arrest goons that pose a threat to the safety of the people, also haJagadish, Baiju Santosh, Nandu and Maniyanpilla Raju as part of the cast. Prithviraj is set to start work on Vilayath Buddha after he completes Kaapa later this year.
