West Bengal is known to be Shah Rukh Khan's 'very own' state. The superstar is the brand ambassador of the state and is a regular at the prestigious Kolkata International Film Festival. It is hardly surprising that Bengal will deliver brilliant figures at the box office for an SRK movie. According to a source close to the distributing team, the film bagged approximately Rs 24 cr nett in the first week. This is, by far, the largest collection across Bengal for any film in the first week. Earlier this year, Pathaan also created a record in the collection.

Talking about the box office figures of Jawan, Pankaj Ladia, AVP Movie Programming, PVRINOX Ltd, said, “This is huge for any film anywhere. With all its hype, and pre and post-release madness, Jawan proved all the analytical predictions right. It has been remarkable for the exhibitors.”

Leaves single screen owners happy

Two Shah Rukh Khan films – Pathaan and Jawan – have broadened the smiles on the faces of single-screen owners. After the devastating days of the pandemic, these two films brought a whiff of fresh air. Navin Choukhani of Navina Cinema said, “Jawan has recorded the highest collection of any language film in any single screen in Bengal. In eight days, I closed at approximately Rs 31.14 lakh. This is our highest first-week collection ever.”

Meanwhile, both Pathaan and Jawan together helped the single screens to contribute around 50% of the total collection. The Remaining half came from the multiplexes. Priya Cinema’s Arijit Dutta said, “Pathaan’s first-week collection for us was more than Rs 20 lakh in Priya. The ticket prices have increased since then. Now, Pathaan and Jawan each contributed nearly half of the total box office collection in Bengal. This is good news.”
