Exclusive! Jawan Day 1 box office prediction in Bengal: Shah Rukh Khan-Atlee film set to cross Rs 3.5 cr in the state

With more than 1100 shows across Bengal, Shah Rukh-mania compels exhibitors to open the first show as early as 5 am.

Shah Rukh Khan is back and how. With more than 1100 shows across Bengal, Jawan is all set to create a history in the entertainment industry. Ever since the advance booking opened on Friday, September 1, the film saw an overwhelming response. Here is a lowdown on how this Atlee film gears up to rewrite history in film exhibition in Bengal.

Creating history:

To begin with, Jawan will be shown in 1100 shows across the state. For the first time in Bengal, the first show will begin at 5 am at Miraj Cinemas, New Town. Not just there, but the intense demand for the early shows has compelled the exhibitors to show the film early in the morning. According to a ticket booking app, there are approximately 163 Hindi language shows (there is a Tamil show in the city as well) around Kolkata and 24 parganas that will begin before noon. About two-thirds of that number of shows will begin before 10 am.

Talking about this craze, Satadeep Saha, owner of Ajanta Cinema, told us, “This is for the first time in the history of our cinema hall, that we are opening the theatre for screening as early as 6:40 am. I feel Jawan will see the highest-ever single-day collection across all languages in Bengal. The previous one is Pathaan – again an SRK film.”

First day box office collection:

Trade analysts are predicting between Rs 3.5 to Rs 4 cr opening day collection from Bengal for Jawan. Pankaj Ladia, AVP Movie Programming, PVRINOX Ltd, predicted, “I see around Rs 3.5 cr net on the first day. The advance booking shows the trend and based on that I predict that it will earn Rs 3.5 cr. The first day is important for the business. From the second day, it will depend on the film reports.”

According to trade aggregator sacnilk.com, Jawan has already sold one million (and counting) tickets for the opening day of its release and is extremely well placed at the moment to score the highest opening for a Hindi film to date. The same trade site says that the film, which also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi and others, is on track to earn close to Rs. 80 crores in India and Rs. 125 crores worldwide on Day #1 of its release.
