The movie, which is directed by Chidamabaram, also has Ganapathi, Lal, Balu Varghese and Siddharth Menon as part of the cast
Debutant director Chidambaram’s Jan.E.Man, which emerged as the surprise hit of last year , is yet to release on OTT platforms – partly because the movie is still running in theatres even three months after its initial release. While the audience is curious about when and where the movie will stream online, OTTplay reached out to its makers for an update.
The comedy-entertainer revolves around Joymon, a nurse based in Canada, who decides to come to Kerala to celebrate his 30th birthday. His friends decide to throw him a party, however, on the same day, a neighbour passes away. The contrasting events that unravel at the birthday party and the funeral make the rest of the plot of the film, scripted by the director and his brother and actor Ganapathi.
A source close to the film’s production tells us, “Jan.E.Man’s digital and satellite rights have been sold to Sun Network. While it will air on Surya TV, according to the deal we have signed for its OTT rights, they could either stream the movie on Sun NXT or sell it to bigger players like Amazon Prime Video or Disney+ Hotstar.” However, it now seems that the platform has decided to stream the superhit film on Sun NXT.
Jan.E.Man was widely praised for its making and content, bringing in the right mix of comedy and emotions to the plot. The film, which was shot during the pandemic when restrictions were in place, has Basil Joseph playing Joymon. Arjun Ashokan, Lal, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Riya Saira, Siddharth Menon, Gilu Joseph and Abhiram Radhakrishnan are also part of the cast. The film's Tamil, Telugu and Hindi remake rights are also sold.
The movie, which has Bijibal as its composer, also marked the debut of still photographer Vishnu Thandassery as a cinematographer. Jan.E.Man is currently streaming on Sun NXT.
