Young actor Sparsh Srivastav earned his fame by playing the character Sunny, the protagonist of the crime-drama series Jamtara - Sabka Number Ayega, streams on Netflix
Sparsh Srivastav was one of the new faces from the bunch of budding actors of the crime-drama series Jamtara - Sabka Number Ayega when it was released on Netflix in 2020. Since then, his character Sunny, who would make female voice on-call to scam people, has become quite popular.
His ability to make a female voice has become so popular, even among the casting directors that Sparsh quipped that he is getting more offers from a voice-over artist than auditioning for acting projects.
In conversation with OTTplay, Sparsh said, " It is funny that I have got the offer to lend my voice as a voice-over artist! (laughed out loud) But yes, on the acting front, nothing has changed hugely except doing more auditions. I am yet to achieve a space where someone would say to me that they want only me for the part. I have a long way to reach there. Having said that, I am trying to avoid roles that could put me into a box of being a 'village boy'."
He explained that it is not the image that he fears but the limited opportunity that comes along with it.
"I won't mind playing a village boy but there shouldn't be any similarities in the personality of that character. I am playing Sunny for two seasons of Jamtara. I love the character but my next project should be something different from this, otherwise, as an actor, I will feel stuck, limited...that's not what I wish as a performer," Sparsh signed off.
The show Jamtara - Sabka Number Ayega, is set in the village of Jamtara, located in Jharkhand, which is known to become one of the fastest cyber-crime centers in India where thousands of youngsters are involved in phishing and scam business.
Directed by Soumendra Padhi, the show is also featuring - Amit Sial, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sparsh Shrivastav, Anshumaan Pushkar, Seema Pahwa, Ravi Chahal - streaming on Netflix.
