While Sai Pallavi’s next release Gargi might not have a Malayalam version, it has ample talents from the industry working behind and in front of the camera. The movie, which marks the debut production venture of Mollywood star Aishwarya Lekshmi, also has Hridayam actor Kalesh Ramanand in a pivotal role.

A source from the team exclusively revealed to OTTplay that Kalesh, who was lauded for his role as Selva in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Hridayam earlier this year, will be seen playing a character opposite to Sai Pallavi in the Gautham Ramachandran directorial.

“His is a supporting role and he had completed shooting for Gargi after he had finished work on Hridayam last year,” said the source. Kalesh, who has been active in the Chennai theatre circles, had previously done small parts in Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swami-starrer Thani Oruvan and Maara, R Madhavan’s Tamil remake of Charlie. Kalesh made his acting debut almost eight years ago with Mammootty’s Kunjananthante Kada and had been working as a dubbing artiste in Chennai since then.

Gargi also has Govind Vasantha as its music director. The makers had let out a glimpse of the movie, which is produced by Ravichandran Ramachandran, Gautham, Aishwarya and Thomas George, on Monday on Sai Pallavi’s 30th birthday.

The movie, which will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, has the actress dubbing for all three languages herself. Touted to be a female-centric movie, the film marks Gautham’s second directorial after Nivin Pauly’s Richie, which was the Tamil remake of Rakshit Shetty’s Ulidavaru Kandanthe.

Sai Pallavi, meanwhile, was last seen in the Telugu period film Shyam Singha Roy, which is currently streaming on Netflix. She is also part of Rana Daggubati’s upcoming period drama Virata Parvam, which revolves around the Naxalite movement that took place in the 1990s in Telangana.
