Exclusive! Govinda Naam Mera's Trupti Khamkar: Being a theatre actor, bagging a Dharma Productions' film was a far-fetched dream

The actress will be seen in the Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani-starrer Govinda Naam Mera

Actress Trupti Khamkar, who plays a pivotal role in the upcoming film Govinda Naam Mera, which also stars Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani, shares why it is important to work in a big banner film, and why doing a Dharma Productions film was not in her immediate wish-list.

Trupti told OTTplay, "I am glad that after working for so long and constantly proving my talent as an actor, I have got a chance to work under a huge banner like Dharma Productions. We have all grown up watching films from this iconic production house, and we all have a favourite Dharma film. Since Govinda Naam Mera is also releasing on an OTT platform, it is even better, because it will reach a global audience."

She further added, "Being a theatre actor, bagging a Dharma film was not on my immediate bucket list. It was, in fact, it was a far-fetched dream. It is my good fortune that I got a chance to do this film. As an actor, wherever I get the chance to, I will act. All that matters to me is to act well. If I am staging a play, it has to be great and everyone should appreciate the team's effort."

Trupti was also seen iin Hindi films like Tumhari Sulu, Saand Ki Aankh, and The White Tiger, among others. She has also acted in the Marathi zombie film Zombivli and web series like Girls Hostel, Adulting and Girgit.

Asked if she gained any advantage from working under the big banner, Trupti said, "Yes, I think good work can go unnoticed, but a small part can be visible in a big film because we all wait for a big film to release. For e.g. not many people noticed my character in the web series Girgit. On the other hand, I know that people are going to watch a film like Govinda Naam Mera and I am, therefore, waiting to see how they react to my character, Manju."

Govinda Naam Mera is directed by Shashank Khaitan, and also features Sayaji Shinde, Dayanand Shetty, Amey Wagh and Renuka Shahane. It will release on December 16 on Disney+ Hotstar.
