The National Award-winning actor plays a pivotal part in the espionage series that releases on November 11,
Actor Adil Hussain is known for delivering performances that are often described as 'excellent' by audiences and critics alike. This has been in films like Mukti Bhawan, Life of Pi, English Vinglish, Angry Indian Goddesses, Raahgir - The Wayfarers, among many others.
As the actor gears up for the release of his upcoming web series, Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy, he opens up about his character and the story of the show.
The series is an adaptation of the novel Mission to Kashmir: An Intelligent Agent in Pakistan, written by Maloy Dhar. The story is set in 1965, when the war between India and Pakistan changed the political history and geography of the two countries, especially Kashmir.
The show gives a fictional version of the historical episodes. Harfan, a young Kashmiri man, is placed in Pakistan and the show is about how he shares information with Indian intelligence, which changes the course of the war. Harfan is played by actor Zain Durrani.
When asked about his character in the show, Adil shared, "Well, my character is a fictionalised version inspired by a real-life character. In the show, we named him Ram Kishor Negi. He is the mastermind, and the more I explored the character, the more I was in awe. The story is set in 1965, which was not long after India got freedom from the British Raj. This newly-independent country was dealing with a war already. My character is respected as one of the most intelligent minds throughout India and in Europe, in the intelligence community. The way this man deals with espionage and surveillance, and does something so huge which ended up changing the future of the country, is fascinating."
Directed by Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai, Mukhbir - The Story of a Spy is written by Arshad Sayyed and Vaibhav Modi. It also stars Prakash Raj, Harsh Chhaya, Satyadeep Mishra, Zoya Afroz and Barkha Bisht, and will be available to stream on OTTplay and ZEE5 on November 11.
