College Romance has finally come to its end with its fourth and final season and has garnered immense praise as soon it was out on SonyLIV. Gagan Arora, who plays one of the most important and popular characters in the series, shared his experience of working on the show.

In a recent chat with OTTplay, the actors also shared how his co-star Apoorva Arora is like a family to him and more. Excerpts:

College Romance has gained immense popularity and fan following but so has your chracter, Bagga. Did you expect such a huge response while doing the first season?

Yeah. We had no clue. No clue while we were making the show that this is going to be such an overnight success. So, we had no idea but the kind of love that we got for this show, was maddening. I had so many people texting me overnight, the show came out. Especially after that cantine scene and that car-breaking scene. Yeah. I couldn't believe it.

How much do you relate your college life with the show on the scale of craziness and fun that they have?

I relate a lot. I just had amazing, amazing college days. A great bunch of friends, especially my drama society. And we used to do theatre all across India, and we had such great memories of just chilling together, going to places having food not attending classes whatsoever. So I think I relate a lot because actually, maybe we bought a che group, our date back, hey, we started with college and we're still together. So I think I feel blessed like that.

Why do you think it was important for the makers to put the LGBTQ+ angle in the show, how much have you learnt from the show?

It's very important because a conversation starter is all we need for something so delicate as LGBTQ plus. So it just became very important, we thought that we should have some sort of representation of sexuality in a show, and I think that was very important. And I think we were successful with that.

Trippy is getting back to the show after skipping a season. Was this surprising to you also, when you came to know?

No, we all wanted him to come back for a long way we were all pressurizing the producers that the group is incomplete without him. And we need him to come back. And at the end of the day, he came and it was really special. All of us being together. The whole experience was amazing.

Your onscreen jodi with Naira is superb, how's your offscreen connection?

It's actually, it's like family. Because we've been working together for a very long time. I think we are the most comfortable with each other. I think that that is what people have on the screen. And I think that's what people appreciate also. The kind of chemistry that you see all because we spend that much amount of time together. We know each other very well. I respect her a lot as an actor and as a human being as well.

So I think that chemistry is what it was written very well. And I think both of us so given a lot of time so that people can experience that kind of love after a long time because it's a very real raw love and that is how people are. So I think that is the reason people relate to it so much. But it's just on screen and I'm happily married.
