Actor and rapper Chaitanya Sharma is the male protagonist in the teleplay Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti that releases on February 19
Rapper and actor Chaitanya Sharma, who plays a pivotal role in the teleplay Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti, says that he had to do a lot of unlearning to convincingly recreate the 1990s through his acting.
Chaitanya told OTTplay, "I have done theatre, so I feel comfortable with it. I joined the cast of Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti on day 2. From the trailer, you can see that all the characters are very loud and dramatic. And that is how the acting is in our favourite 90s Hindi films. So, I had to unlearn everything I have known about acting, because these days, the acting is more subtle. So, when I joined the cast and was watching the other actors, I wondered, itna over-the-top acting karna sahi hoga kya? Of course, I had initial inhibitions. But then, when you get direction from our director, Akarsh Khurana, you just go with the flow."
Since Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti is a teleplay -- a hybrid medium of stage plays and on-camera acting -- we asked Chaitanya how different it was for him to shoot it? "We have treated it like a play, so the transition of scenes from one to another is the way you see in staged plays. There is a total blackout, and the background, costumes, and timeline all change. This will be the experience of the teleplay. So, basically, we have used the device of the camera, but the principle of theatre," explained the actor.
Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti also stars Shikha Talsania, Adhaar Khurana and Prajakta Koli. It will release on Zee Theatre on February 19.
