Exclusive! Badhon on Khufiya: Working under Vishal Bharadwaj’s direction, sharing the screen with Tabu are important parts of my career

The Bangladeshi actress talks about her look in the teaser of her Bollywood debut.

Azmeri Haque Badhon dazzled her fans with her beige Dhakai Jamdani in her first appearance on a global platform in 2021. She represented Bangladesh with her film Rehana Maryam Noor at the 74th Cannes Film Festival. Soon after her global appearance on the Cannes red carpet, the actress bagged a role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya. Along with Tabu, Ali Fazal, Grahan-fame Wamiqa Gabbi and Ashish Vidyarthi, the actress features in a recent teaser of the show.

Talking about her look in the shot, Badhon told OTTplay, “It was a part of a scene. It was shot early in the morning and after the shot, Vishal Bhardwaj told me, ‘Azmeri, apne to aag laga di’. Working under his direction is a big deal in my career. Same with sharing the screen with Tabu. I am really overwhelmed.”

Badhon further decoded her look in the shot. “ Here also, I am wearing a Dhakai Jamdani. It is procured from Dhaka and that is a very special thing for me. It is not the regular look of my character. That will be revealed later,” she said.

Based on a popular spy novel by Amar Bhushan, Escape to Nowhere, Khufiya is inspired by true events. However, the release date of the movie on Netflix is not yet known. Earlier, in an interview, Vishal said that Khufiya is a film of the modern action spy genre. He further added that not many thrillers of this standard have been made in Indian cinema.
