Exclusive! Asur 2's Meiyang Chang: I dreamt and desired to be a part of the show

The actor is introduced in the new season as the character Paul. He tells us how he bagged the role

When he watched Asur for the first time in 2020 as an audience member, actor Meiyang Chang somehow wanted to be a part of the web series. Meiyang seems to have really manifested his desire since he bagged a role in the second season, which was released recently. Speaking to OTTplay, he shared that it was difficult for him to keep his excitement under wraps to avoid spoilers for the show.

Asked about his reaction to the first season when he watched the show as an audience member, Meiyang told OTTplay, "I had a dream and desire to be a part of this show when I watched it for the first time. I remember calling Ridhi (Dogra) because she is an old friend. I told her how much I loved the show because, with some shows, just by watching it, you can understand that the creative forces behind the show, be it the writers, producers, or other people involved in the show, are interested and willing to take risks and experiment with a story."

He went on to add, "So, yes, eventually the show happened to me. But I must mention that the one person who saved the best spoiler was me, because from day one, I was told to be tight-lipped about my character in the show. I have been taking selfies with all my co-actors and crews since last year and have not posted a single picture on my social media pages. Now that the show is out, I am going to blast my social media feed with my BTS and shoot pictures."

Meiyang plays Paul in Asur 2, who is a new character introduced in the second season of the show.

Starting his career as a musician by participating in shows like Indian Idol, followed by hosting multiple shows, Meiyang has also acted in series like Bombers, 1962 - The War in the Hills, Undekhi, and Modern Love: Mumbai, apart from films like Badmaash Company, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, Sultan, and Bharat.

Asur 2 also stars Barun Sobti, Arshad Warsi, and Amey Wagh. It is available to stream on JioCinema.
