Asur 2 has been all the rage since its release. Gaurav Arora, who plays a key character in the web series, says that he never imagined that the show would become this popular when he was shooting the first season.

Remembering shooting for Asur before the pandemic, Gaurav told OTTplay, "I remember when we were making the first season of the show, all of us, especially the makers—director, creators, cinematographers—everyone thought that we had a winner in our hand, because it was a well-written script and we wanted to execute it 10-fold from script to screen. Our director (Oni Sen) used to say, 'Guys, we are going to make history'. I used to wonder if the show would really become that big, because we had never before seen well-made web series become big just because of the content and word of mouth."

"The first season was released in 2020, when the pandemic hit, and due to restrictions, we could not do extensive media activity and promotions. Now, when I look back, it puts a smile on my face to see how right Oni was. We have created history," Gaurav added.

The story of Asur revolves around the investigation of multiple murders and the hunt for a serial killer.

Asked about how he sees the progression of his character, Kesav Bharadwaj, in the second season, Gaurav said, "My character has a huge emotional graph in the new season. Season 2 has a lot to offer, not just when it comes to the intensity of the story and characters but also the production value, music, visuals—everything. It is amazing. When it comes to Kesav, everyone might perceive him as a negative character, but he has his own reasons for every action he takes."

"The preparation process was intense for me because I had to learn Sanskrit lines, which took a lot of time. I also had a musical piece and had to get into the zone of Kesav," shared the actor.

Asur is directed by Oni Sen and also stars Barun Sobti, Ridhi Dogra, Anupriya Goenka, Arshad Warsi, and Amey Wagh. It is available to stream on JioCinema.
