Arunoday Singh’s web series Apharan 2 has started streaming on Voot. This happens a week after his Buddha In A Traffic Jam director Vivek Agnihotri’s movie The Kashmir Files has been working wonders at the Box Office. The two did join hands for the movie but haven’t collaborated again.
Thus, we asked Arunoday what happened and he pointed out that it isn’t the first time that he didn’t work with a director again. “That’s with a lot of people that I worked with. I never worked with Sudhir (Mishra), David Dhawan or Vikram Bhatt again. I never work with anyone again, except for Siddharth (Sengupta),” the actor said while talking to us about Apharan 2 and how he collaborated with Siddharth again, who is the first filmmaker he worked with again.
Arunoday cut us in the middle and thus, before we could ask him, “I ask this since he is finally being recognized as a filmmaker after The Kashmir Files release but you were with him before even that happened,” Arunoday said, “I know where you’re going, just move on.”
He then added, “This is about Apharan 2 and me. Everything else does not exist.”
Buddha In A Traffic Jam was Vivek Agnihotri’s first ever film where he moved towards a social cause after giving movies like Chocolate, Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal and Hate Story. Three years after his 2016 release, Vivek introduced the first of his trilogy films – The Tashkent Files – to the world. The movie released in 2019 and it paved the way for The Kashmir Files and his upcoming movie, The Delhi Files.
While talking to OTTplay, Vivek said that the trilogy represents the three lion pillars. He revealed that The Tashkent Files was based on right to truth, The Kashmir Files talks about right to justice and The Delhi Files will deal with right to life.
The filmmaker, at least at the moment, does not intend to turn the trilogy into a franchise. He, however, has revealed having other projects in mind and recent reports also suggest that Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut might end up working in one of his movies.
The Kashmir Files, which is currently running in theatres, has crossed Rs. 100 crore mark. The movie has been mired into a controversy and director Vivek has claimed that he received death threats after which he was granted Y security from CRPF.
