Exclusive! Arindam Sil out. Srijit Mukherji to bring Bidyutlata Batabyal on OTT
Earlier, it was reported that Arindam Sil will make a web series for Camelia Production’s upcoming OTT platform, Fridaay.

Srijit Mukherji’s tryst with detective stories continues. The director has brought Sunil Ganguly’s Kakababu, Satyajit Ray’s Feluda, and even Saradindu Bandyopadhyay’s Byomkesh Bakshi to the screen. In fact, he is currently busy with the second season of Feludar Goyendagiri based on Ray’s Bhuswargo Bhoyonkor. It seems he is set to start his journey with a new detective character, Bidyutlata Batabyal.

Penned by Adheesha Sarkar, the character Bidyutlata is a hacker and lives around Kolkata’s famous Sonagachi area. She solves crime through her razor-sharp mind and helps cops. Earlier, it was reported that Arindam Sil will make a web series for Camelia Production’s upcoming OTT platform, Fridaay. In fact, Sauraseni Maitra’s name was announced as the lead character. Arjun Chakrabarty was also supposed to play a key character.
However, according to sources, Srijit has now taken over the charge for the show. The cast is yet to be finalised and the work on the script will only start after the director finishes Bhuswargo Bhayankawr. There has been no confirmation on the news from the production house or the director. When contacted, Arindam Sil said, “I am completely unaware of anything.”
Interestingly, speculations over the differences between Arindam Sil and Camellia Productions started when the director announced the third film on Mitin Mashi. While the first two films are produced by Camellia, the third one will be produced by Surinder Films. However, Koyel Mallick will continue to play the titular role.
