Arindam Sil has just wrapped up the shooting of Byomkesh Hotyamancha. The film that features Abir Chatterjee, Sohini Sarkar and Suhotro Mukhopadhyay as Byomkesh, Satyabati and Ajit respectively will release on July 11. The film also features Paoli, Arno Mukhopadhyay and others in lead.

On Monday, the poster of the film was released. Byomkesh Hatyamancha delves into a murder on a stage while a performance of a play was on. It was an unfinished script of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Later, Arindam and Padmanabha Dasgupta have developed the story. The director started his Byomkesh Franchise with Abir Chatterjee in 2015 with Har Har Byomkesh. In the new film, Suhotro will be seen as Ajit, Byomkesh’s friend.

As per sources, the film will showcase the 70s Kolkata when the Naxalbari Movement was in full swing. The poster too reflects the period film flavour with the makeup and costume of the actors and actresses, and the careful usage of sepia tone.

Talking about the newly released poster, Arindam said, “We are getting very good response to the poster and the first look. It shows how Byomkesh fans have been waiting for years to watch the new film.”

Arindam also talked about the ‘hectic’ shooting schedule. “We completed the shoot in 20 days. We did not have much time. But the shooting was very organised. We had long hours, late-night shoots. It was not easy to recreate 1971 Kolkata. But everything went well and plans were executed properly,” he said. The post production work is in full swing.

Produced by SVF and Camellia Productions, the film will hit the theatre on August 11.
