Exclusive! Arijita Mukhopadhyay on Mithai: My character shows unholy nexus between politicians and real estate giants

The actress has started shooting for a new serial after Aay Tobe Sohochori

It was the last day of the shooting of Aay Tobe Sohochori on Saturday. The serial came to an end after lead actress Koneenica Banerjee travelled for her treatment. Barfi’s aunt Renuka, aka Arijita Mukhopadhyay, will now enter Mithai in a brand new track. She is expected to play a politician, a councillor, Pramila Laha. As per sources, Arijita’s character will create problems in Mithai’s life.

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Arijita admitted that she will be playing a negative character in the serial. “While I am not entering only to trouble Mithai, my tussle with the Modak family will go on,” said the actress.

Elaborating on her character, Arijita said, “My character will show an unholy nexus between politicians and realtors. Aditya Agarwal brings in Pramila to create trouble in Modak’s family. He promises her property in return for her favour. Pramila starts to pull strings the family faces challenges.” The actress started shooting for the serial on Saturday.

Arijita is a regular face of several mega serials. She has played an important negative character in Falna. Besides, she was seen in Godhuli Alaap, Meghe Dhaka Tara and so on. Arijita’s character in the Hoichoi web series Sampurna has garnered her appreciation. In the series, Arijita plays the character of an NGO worker who gives shelter to women who suffer from domestic violence. Soon, she will start shooting another series directed by Surajit Hazra. Based on a treasure hunt, Arijita will play an important character in the historical thriller. As per sources, while her character is not one of the leads, she will play an interesting character in the treasure hunt. She will also be seen in Haranath Chakraborty’s Dal Bati Churma. Besides, her Fatafati will be released in 2023.
