She has a few promising Tamil films in her kitty, including The Great Indian Kitchen, the remake of the acclaimed Malayalam movie which was released under the same title.
Quiz her about what convinced her to headline the remake of a movie which has been applauded by film lovers across the country after its release on Neestream and Amazon Prime Video, Aishwarya says it's the relevant theme and the need for the message to reach a wider audience which made her sign the project.
She explains, "I hadn't watched the Malayalam film when I was approached to play the lead in the remake of The Great Indian Kitchen. Even after signing the remake, I had decided not to watch it until I completed shooting for the Tamil version as I thought I would make an unnecessary comparison."
According to her, many in Tamil Nadu wouldn't have watched the Malayalam version, and she felt the topic addressed in the film should reach more people. "I'm sure there are a lot of audiences who wouldn't watch other language films despite the OTT boom. So, playing the lead in the film's remake would be a great opportunity to convey the message in it to people across the state," she opines.
Aishwarya also recollects how her US-based friend expressed happiness after knowing that she has accepted to do the Tamil remake of the movie. She says, "My friend who has been settled there for a while would tell me how mundane her life has become after "getting stuck" in the kitchen with the household chores. I couldn't stop wondering about the situation of women in our country."
