Pandiraj has directed the family drama which features many talented actors
Suriya in a still from the film
The much-awaited Suriya-starrer Etharkkum Thunindhavan hit the screens today; the long wait for the star's fans to see him on the big screen has come to an end today. Though the Pandiraj directorial has been carrying enough buzz from the time of the project's announcement, it was heard that the film did not release in many single screens in Tamil Nadu.
Though the three songs released earlier by the makers received not-so-great response, there has been decent expectations among movie lovers, thanks to the bevy of talented artists in the film. Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Devadarshini, Ilavarasu, MS Bhaskar, Vinay Rai, Soori and Pugazh play notable characters in it.
Fans of Suriya were excited to catch the movie from as early as 5 am today; many of them took to Twitter to opine that Etharkkum Thunindhavan is the comeback vehicle for the actor. They lauded his screen presence and timing in action and emotional scenes, while a few went gaga over his young looks.
A few theatres in Cuddalore district had police protection during the screening as a political outfit had requested a ban on the movie, alleging that Suriya's previous film, Jai Bhim, had derogatory scenes which were purposefully incorporated to vilify a caste group. There were a few tweets and memes on the same on social media.
Some of the movie lovers posted photos and videos of the celebration Suriya fans organized in theatres belonging to different south states to welcome the star's return to the big screen after more than two years.
Fans of the star are now eagerly looking forward to his next outing, Vaadivaasal, which will have acclaimed filmmaker Vetri Maaran at the helm.
