The film, which also features Mahershala Ali, is based on Rumaan Alam’s book of the same name
The star studded cast of Leave the World Behind seems to be getting bigger and better. It was announced that Ethan Hawke will join the cast of the upcoming Netflix thriller film.
According to a report in Deadline, the Academy Award nominated star will be joined by Myha’la Herrold. The upcoming film also features Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali in lead roles. In addition to the three, Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Charlie Evans also feature in the film.

The upcoming film is based on the 2020 novel of the same name written by Rumaan Alam. It tells the story of an American couple whose vacation goes wrong when a strange couple visits them and claim to be the actual owners of the beach house the former is staying at. As the two families reluctantly decide to share the house, strange things start to happen which force them to put aside their differences and band together. The book deals with themes of classism, racism and parental bonds through the story of the two couples, one white and the other black.
While Hawke and Roberts will essay the role of one of the couples, Armstrong and Evans will play their children.
Leave the World Behind is directed by Sam Esmail, best known as the creator of the acclaimed series Mr Robot. The upcoming film will be produced under the banners of Red Om Films and Esmail Corp, the banners of Roberts and Esmail respectively.

Meanwhile Hawke has a string of films awaiting release which includes Marvel’s Moon Knight, The Northman, The Black Phone, Raymond and Ray, and Knives Out 2 as well.
