It’s a dream for most actors now to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Bollywood actor Harish Patel is one of the firsts from India to land a part in the superhero franchise.
Harish plays Karun in the upcoming movie Eternals, which also stars Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington and Richard Madden. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Harish talked about the audition process for the movie and meeting its cast for the first time.
The actor, who has been part of films such as Mr India, Andaz Apna Apna and Mohra, revealed that the casting directors of Marvel, after a thorough background research, reach out to the artiste’s manager to inform them about the part, shooting schedules and locations.
Harish, however, said that initially the name of his character was not Karun. He also got a callback only three months after his audition and was asked to fly out the very next day for a final audition.
“I said it doesn’t happen like that, as I’ll have to apply for the entertainer visa only after which I can enter the country and give the audition,” he said in the interview.
Once he got his visa, he flew to London to give his audition at the Pinewood Studios. Once he reached the hotel, an assistant director asked him to join a table read with the cast.
“I told her I was hungry, so she said all the arrangements are made upstairs. So I went there, took my plate and just when I was serving myself, someone patted me on my back and said hello. I found that voice very sweet, so when I turned back to see who it was - it was Salma Hayek,” he said, adding that she was the first one to inform him that he got the part.
