Enkilum Chandrike now sets up a ‘feel-good’ clash with Super Sharanya trio’s Pranaya Vilasam and Malavika Mohanan’s Christy
Debutant filmmaker Adithyan Chandrasekhar’s comedy Enkilum Chandrike withdrew from the February 10 box office clash that also featured movies of Mollywood superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal – Christopher and Enkilum Chandrike, respectively.
The movie, which is touted to be a ‘feel-good’ comedy, has Basil Joseph, Saiju Kurup, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Tanvi Ram and Abhiram Radhakrishnan, with Niranjana Anoop essaying the titular role. It marks the first feature film of Adithyan, who had earlier worked in several web series with the Karikku team as well as Average Ambili that had Arsha Baiju in the lead.
Adithyan confirmed to OTTplay that the film’s release date has been pushed from February 10 to February 17. While this avoids a clash with the heavyweights, it will pit the movie against another feel-good comedy, Pranaya Vilasam as well as Mathew Thomas and Malavika Mohanan’s Christy.
Enkilum Chandrike revolves around the impending wedding of Niranjana’s character and how it sparks the emotions of the men in the village. Pranaya Vilasam, meanwhile, showcases the story of “different kinds of love – about romance between people, in varied landscapes,” its director Nikhil Muraly had earlier told us. The film stars Arjun Ashokan, Mamitha Baiju and Anaswara Rajan in pivotal roles.
Christy is also a feel-good romcom, which is scripted by writers GR Indugopan and Benyamin. Directed by debutant Alwin Henry, the film revolves around teenage infatuation and is set against the backdrop of Poovar in Thiruvananthapuram. The movie has Bheeshmaparvam cinematographer Anend C Chandran cranking its camera.
While Indugopan had previously scripted films such as Kaapa and Oru Thekkan Thallu Case, Christy marks the screenwriting debut for Aadujeevitham writer Benyamin. “This is a new stream for me. Scriptwriting is entirely different from writing novels and stories. So, I wanted to try my hand at that, especially with Indugopan, who has already written a few scripts, being there as support and guide,” said Benyamin, in an earlier interview with us.
Fans of feel-good Malayalam movies are sure to be spoilt for choice this February 17.
