Mohanlal starrer Neru, directed by Jeethu Joseph, has been garnering positive reviews for its refreshing screenplay and stellar performances. Released on December 21, the courtroom drama film features Anaswara Rajan in a crucial role. The audience is praising her portrayal of a visually impaired sculptor, who has been sexually abused.

The Malayalam actress, who shot to fame with the 2019 romantic comedy Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, went on to do more films that were appreciated by the viewers. From Udaharanam Sujatha to Pranaya Vilasam, here are five movies streaming on OTT that feature Anaswara in interesting characters.

1. Udaharanam Sujatha

The Malayalam remake of the 2016 Hindi film Nil Battey Sannata, Udaharanam Sujatha - starring Manju Warrier, Anaswara, Nedumudi Venu, Mamta Mohandas and Joju George - is a drama film, helmed by Phantom Praveen. The story revolves around Sujatha (Manju), a single mother who struggles to make ends meet, and is disappointed when her daughter, Athira, decides to drop out of school. So, Sujatha makes a plan to motivate her to study. The movie was well-received and even won many accolades. It marked Anaswara’s acting debut.

2. Super Sharanya

Streaming on: ZEE5

Super Sharanya is a coming-of-age comedy film, with Anaswara playing the titular role. Directed by Girish AD, the movie also features Arjun Ashokan, Mamitha Baiju and Naslen K Gafoor as supporting characters. The story follows the journey of Sharanya, a shy and introverted girl from Palakkad, who moves to Thrissur to pursue engineering. She finds it difficult to cope with her new surroundings in college and her hostel. It’s a feel-good movie, in which Anuswara’s performance was loved by audiences. Although the film got mixed reviews from the critics, it was a box-office success.

3. Thanneer Mathan Dinangal

Helmed by Girish AD, Thanneer Mathan Dinangal is a high-school drama that revolves around Jaison (Mathew Thomas), a teenager. He has a crush on Keerthy (Anaswara), but she does not reciprocate his feelings. To make things worse, he gets in trouble with Ravi (Vineeth Sreenivasan), the new teacher who is liked by everyone, especially Keerthy. The movie was well-received by the audience, who particularly appreciated Anaswara and Mathew’s performance.

4. Pranaya Vilasam

Streaming on: ZEE5

This Anaswara and Arjun Ashokan starrer is a tender, light-hearted film with fresh perspectives on love. Suraj (Arjun) has a strained relationship with his controlling father, and is forced to go to an undesired university. Life changes for him when he breaks up with his girlfriend. Pranaya Vilasam also features Mamitha Baiju in a lead role.

5. Vaanku

Before completing her college education, a young woman and her friends make a collective decision to fulfil some personal desires. However, when she embarks on a journey to fulfil her dreams in her traditionally conservative hometown, the situation takes an unforeseen twist. Directed by Kavya Prakash, Vaanku effectively depicts the challenging situation of women, who rely on their husbands - a consequence of early marriages which hinders their education.
