End of zeher wali kheer! Sooryavansham will stop airing on Set Max soon

Amitabh Bachchan dying after eating zeher wali kheer has become iconic because it has been playing on TV for years at an end. Set Max, that played the movie, will no longer hold the rights to the film that was not played only when IPL season was on. Goldmine Telefilms, that currently has the rights to the film, has decided to not continue with the contract with Set Max.

Instead, Manish Shah of Goldmine Telefilms confirms that he has other plans for the legendary film. While talking to Bollywood Hungama, he revealed that while the movie will air on Set Max till 2024 or 2025, he is not going to sell the rights to the film to them again.

Manish, who acquired the rights to Sooryavansham in 2020, has already uploaded the whole film on Goldmine Telefilms’ YouTube channel. As one would expect, the film set a new record, this time online.

He has now shared that the movie will be available on his own TV channel. Whether the film will air on Goldmines Bollywood or Dhinchak Bollywood is yet to be confirmed.

Sooryavansham features Amitabh Bachchan in a double role. His character Heera Thakur, who eventually dies of the zeher wali kheer, is iconic among the loyal Set Max viewers.

Apart from Big B, Sooryavansham stars the late Soundarya, Jayasudha, Anupam Kher, Kader Khan, Shivaji Satam, Bindu and Mukesh Rishi in pivotal roles. The film is helmed by E V V Satyanarayana.

Sooryavansham, which released in 1999, is also available for streaming online. It can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play and Apple TV.
