However, things got worse as soon after the release, Rakesh Roshan was shot by two men, who were linked to the underworld. In the docu-series, the filmmaker got emotional while recalling the traumatizing incident.
He said, "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai ke baare main news aati thi. Aaj yahan chal rahi, aaj wahan chal rahi hai. Aaj itna collection hua, aaj utna collection hua. Toh yeh sab cheezein used to overwhelm me. That was the reason that I came out of all this mess." Hrithik's mother Pinkie Roshan also spoke about the incident.
She said, "It was a very, very difficult time. It was very hard to manage two different emotions at the same time." The actor's sister Sunaina added, "Oh my God, Hrithik became a star overnight, and dad was shot at. Both those things were unbelievable." Rajesh Roshan said, “He’s a very strong man. He was shot and bleeding, but he went to the police station and told them to catch the people who’d done it."
Rakesh Roshan was badly injured as he was shot by assailants in broad daylight in the city. Despite being injured with two bullets, he drove himself to the hospital. The shooting incident shocked the entire country back then.
