Emily In Paris S4, part 2 left viewers confused about whether Emily will end up with Gabriel or Marcello. The door to Alfie is almost closed, but you never know. Now, while there was a hint that season 5 will be about Emily and Marcello, that is not completely true. Showrunner Darren Star has confirmed that Emily and Gabriel's story will be explored as well. He hints that they might get back together, despite Emily hitting it off with Marcello in Italy.
Darren Star hints at Emily-Gabriel in Emily in Paris S5
Darren Star hinted to Deadline that Emily and Gabriel's story hasn't come to an end. He pointed out the last scene, where Gabriel doesn't want to let Emily go. Thus, Darren hinted that their story would continue in season 5. "I think Gabriel realized that he doesn't want to let Emily go so easily, and he might have made a big mistake." They got a cooling-off period after their big fight, which gave the character time to re-think their life and priorities. While Gabriel wants Emily back, it remains to be seen whether Emily feels the same way. Of course, they will either get together or get closure in the next season. "I think there's unfinished business with the two of them," Darren said, adding that it doesn't necessarily mean the two will get back together.

More recently, Lily Collins had shared that she sees Emily and Marcello's story move forward. She wishes for Emily to continue her journey in Italy. It is to be noted that the makers also shared various hints that Emily In Paris will shift to Emily In Rome. They left it open-ended with the last scene, where Emily pens, "Emily In..." and the frame pans out.
Has Emily's journey in Paris come to an end?
Emily worked in Paris and found Gabriel there. If her story with Gabriel progresses, she could stay in Paris. However, there's very little left for her back then. So, yes, it does appear that Emily's journey in Paris has come to an end after all this time.
