Ram Gopal Varma shared an old interview of the former Prime Minister before saying that she is acting like Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana Ranaut often finds herself in the news for her controversial take on different subjects. The actor is now ready to make her way into direction, as she helms and stars in Emergency, a film based on the life of India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now taken to social media to share an interesting take that connects the two.
Taking to Twitter, Ram Gopal Varma shared an old interview of Indira Gandhi where she can be heard talking about the increasing tension in Punjab and wrote, “Believe it or not! Indira Gandhi is acting like #KanganaRanaut ..Check Indira Gandhi Full Interview 1984.”
After the tweet caught everyone’s attention, Kangana took to Instagram to give the filmmaker a reply, saying that his words come as reassurance to her as she will be playing the role of the former Prime Minister.
“Hahaha Thank you sir, it is reassuring as I cast myself in this role,” Kangana wrote on the Instagram stories feature, sharing a screengrab of Ram Gopal Varma’s tweet.
Kangana shared the movie’s first look poster recently, and it took everyone by surprise, because of her striking resemblance to Gandhi in the poster. While she stars and directs the movie, Emergency is also backed by Kangana’s Manikarnika Films.
It was announced recently that Anupam Kher will also appear in the movie, essaying the role of Jai Prakash Narayan, who opposed the Prime Minister during her reign.
As reported by Hindustan Times, Kher said that the debutant director’s interpretation of Narayan is “fascinating” and that her treatment of the character is like that of the movie’s hero.
