Elliot Page will be honoured at LGBTQ film festival 2021 with the Achievement Award announced Outfest on Monday. The actor came out as transgender on his social media handles in November 2020 wherein he penned a heartfelt caption, “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.”

Kieran Medina will present Page’s award who is the lead programmer of the festival’s Trans and Nonbinary Summit, at Outfest’s closing night on August 22 at the Orpheum Theatre.

Outfest’s executive director Damien S. Navarro said that when they are determining the recipient of their highest honour they look for people that are a powerful representative for their community and who have soared to the highest levels of recognition for their talent and who have stepped into the shoes themselves as an independent filmmaker and creator.

Damien also added that there is nobody else who deserves the Outfest Annual Achievement Award more than Elliot this year. His courage, advocacy and personal journey have made him one of the most admirable and respected public figures of the present generation and his talent and voice lead a new generation within the LGBTQIA+ and entertainment community, he further added.

Besides acting, Page has a strong love for storytelling and is passionate about social justice which has taken him behind the camera as a producer and documentary filmmaker. He said that it is important for everyone to use their voices and it is an absolute pleasure to receive the award this year and to represent the community.
