Elan confirms he will direct Dhanush soon: 'He has a lot of trust in that script'
Star movie director Elan noted that he's waiting for Dhanush's availability, who is busy with multiple projects in various languages.

Director Elan has confirmed that he has been in talks with Tamil star Dhanush for a project. He revealed that during the lockdown period, he conceived a story and pitched it to him. To his surprise, Dhanush was very approachable and impressed with the narration.
"Dhanush has liked that script very much. Dhanush sir has put a lot of trust in that script. Dhanush and I share the same vision for the movie. We want to mount it on the scale it deserves. We are waiting for it," Elan told Cinema Vikatan.
Elan noted that he's waiting for Dhanush's availability, who is busy with multiple projects in various languages. Dhanush is writing, directing, and starring in Raayan. He is also shooting for the upcoming Telugu-language movie Kubera. Meanwhile, he's awaiting the release of Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, a romantic comedy he has written, directed, and produced, featuring a cast of newcomers.

On the other hand, Elan is busy promoting his new directorial venture, Star. He has completed production and post-production and is awaiting its theatrical release soon. The release date for the movie has not been confirmed yet but is likely to be after the completion of Lok Sabha voting in Tamil Nadu.
Star is Elan's second directorial outing. He made his debut as a director with Pyaar Prema Kaadhal in 2018, which was a huge hit at the box office. During the COVID lockdown, he finished the script for Star and approached Kavin, who was basking in the success of Dada.
Elan revealed that he drew inspiration from the struggles of his father, Pandian, and wrote the screenplay for Star. He mentioned that his father's unsuccessful struggle to become a cinematographer, followed by finding success as a character artist, sparked the creation of Star.

He further disclosed that he initially wanted to name the movie Superstar. However, considering it might be too ambitious, they settled on Star. The film also stars Lal and Aaditi Pohankar in key roles.
