Eken Babu sets out on another crime-detecting adventure, in Shantiniketan this time. This makes for an unusual and rather exciting setting for a murder-mystery story.
Four seasons and a dedicated fanbase later, here is the new season of the quirky detective who looks like a typical Bengali and solves cases in his quintessential ways. The fifth season will premiere during Durga Puja. This time, the eponymous Ekken Babu is going to tour Shantiniketan, the city of the famous Viswa Bharati established by Rabindranath Tagore. Unexpectedly, the peaceful city is shrouded in a mysterious case with his characteristic detection prowess. He's accompanied by his usual companion Bapi (Soumya Banerjee). It's an eagerly awaited web series that will exploit the already established and appreciated comfort zone created by the director Anirban Mallik. Anirban Chakrabarti reprises his role as the titular Eken Babu and Soumo Banerjee is part of the cast as well.
Hoichoi dropped a short teaser for the official announcement of the much-awaited series. The viewers see glimpses of quirks, poker-faced mannerisms and snapshots of a suspenseful Shantiniketan adventure of the Bengali detective, based on the stories of the detective by Sujan Dasgupta.

Earlier we enjoyed four outings of the detective Eken Babu (the original character created by the writer Sujan Dasgupta), which has a popularity count of 8.6 out of 10. We all know the specific qualities of an Eken story, which has created a new type of mystery-solving sleuth with a strange mixture of comedy and feather-light thrill, comfortably set in a feel-good, affluent ambience. Ekendra Sen, alias Eken Babu, played by Anirban Chakrabarty, is a very ordinary-looking middle-aged character, who is cheerful and jovial. He tries to quote Bengali idioms and proverbs every now-and-then but all his attempts are erroneous and comically out of context. His Hindi dialogues are notoriously funny, marked by incorrect syntax and insertions of typical Bengali colloquialisms. Despite that, you can't ignore his quirky but energetic presence and strong observational power. The extremely light mood of all his web outings till now has won over the audience and is expected of the fresh season too.
