The Mohit Suri directorial also stars Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in major roles
John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor starrer action thriller Ek Villain Returns is all set to release on Netflix on September 9, after its theatrical release on July 29. The film is written and directed by Mohit Suri.
The film is a spiritual sequel and revenge drama, whereas the original film titled ' Ek Villain' was released in 2014.
While the earlier film featured Shraddha Kapoor and Siddharth Malhotra, Ek Villain Returns is also starring - Disha Patani, Tara Sutaria, J. D. Chakravarthy, Kaizaad Kotwal among others. Quite interestingly, in the film, the on-screen equation between Disha and Tara was liked by the audience.
The story of the film revolves around a murder case and decoding the motive of a serial killer; how four characters namely Bhairav, Gautam, Rasika, and Aarvi involved in the matter.
Arjun Kapoor played the character of Gautam in the film and the actor went through body transformation to look the part.
In one of the earlier interviews with the Man's World India magazine, the actor called the phase of transformation a 'journey'.
He said, " My character in the film required certain physicality — I had to look like someone who can stand up in front of a John Abraham and also romance a Tara Sutaria."
Though the film received a mixed response from the audience and managed to earn a decent number of approx rupees 64 crores, the music of the film by Ankit Tiwari, Tanishk Bagchi, and Kaushik-Guddu - received a lot of appreciation; especially the recreated version of the song Galliyan Returns, that is written by Manoj Muntashir, composed and sung by Ankit touched the heart of the audience. With the song Shamaat, Tara Sutaria also made her debut as a singer in the film.
Now that the makers are gearing up to release the film on the OTT platform Netflix, it will be interesting to notice how the global audience receives the multi-starrer film.
