Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer of its Original Movie Dybbuk the Hindi-language remake of Prithviraj Sukumaran's Malayalam blockbuster Ezra.
Sam (Emraan Hashmi) and Mahi (Nikita Dutta) are a newly married couple marred by the miscarriage of their child. They soon move to a scenic beach town, and put down roots in a cosy cottage. Sam is concerned about Mahi's mental health after the tragedy, but she reassures him she is doing fine and busies herself in setting up their home. At an antique store she gravitates towards an old Jewish box, which the salesperson says is Dutch made from the 16th century.
After she arrives home with her new purchase, she unlocks the box and discovers a vial of blood and a lock of hair. The trailer doesn't reveal how she feels about this unusual discovery, but it soon shifts to how opening the box has unleashed a malevolent spirit on both her and Sam.
Sam then consults with a priest, who tells him that the box contains a dissatisfied spirit as a result of an old Jewish ritual. He warns him that under no circumstance should the box be opened. Manav Kaul plays a rabbi who helps Sam understand that Mahi is under the spirit's spell. He tells him that the dybbuk will only retreat after she has wreaked havoc on everything in proximity.
The trailer features frightening jump scares, a gnarly, bloody and levitating Dutta, and a ton of other scary sequences.
Jay K has written and directed Dybbuk which is produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series. The film will release on Amazon Prime Video on October 29.
