The actress had intimate scenes in Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Udal and Krishna Sankar’s upcoming movie Kudukku 2025
Durga Krishna’s latest film Udal courted controversy, with some people criticising her for her intimate scene in the movie, which also has Dhyan Sreenivasan and Indrans as part of its cast. The actress’ next release Kudukku 2025 also has a few intimate sequences.
When asked at a recent press meet in Kochi if she was worried about the controversies that had stirred, the actress said, “I am just doing my job. An intimate scene is just like a fight, emotional or a comedy scene in the film; I don’t give it any more importance. I don’t think it’s anything special.”
On being asked why an actress is always targeted in the case of intimate scenes while the male actor gets leeway, Durga said, “Maybe, it could be because of people’s sexual frustrations. In an English movie, people watch these scenes without complaining. It’s not like people are disgusted with it, everyone watches it. But when a Malayalam actress does it, why does it cause a lot of problems? It could be because of the sexual frustrations of certain people.”
While Udal is set to release on Amazon Prime Video soon, Kudukku 2025 will be a theatrical release. The movie, which is set in 2025, shows how the concept of privacy changes in the future, the film’s director Bilahari had told OTTplay earlier. “If we had set the film’s plot in the contemporary era, it would have been unrealistic, but a few years from now, it would all start to make sense,” he said about the movie, which also has Shine Tom Chacko and Swasika as part of the cast.
Meanwhile, Durga Krishna had most recently wrapped up shooting for Priyadarshan’s segment Olavum Theeravum from the Netflix anthology based on writer MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. Mohanlal plays the lead character of a timber trader named Bapputty in the segment, which has Santosh Sivan as the cinematographer.
