Dunki vs Salaar box office collection - Prabhas' film races past ₹250 crore; Shah Rukh Khan starrer remains steady

Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki clashed with Prabhas' Salaar at the box office. While Rajkumar Hirani's directorial released on December 21, the Prashanth Neel film hit the silver screen on December 22, 2023. Despite a mega box office clash, the SRK starrer has performed well at the ticket window. Within five days of its theatrical release, Dunki collected approximately ₹128.13 crore while Salaar raced past ₹250 crore mark.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Prashant Neel's Salaar, featuring Prabhas, minted ₹42.50 crore. Considering the same, the total BO collection of this violent thriller stands at ₹251.60 crore. On the other hand, Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, earned ₹22.50 crore thereby bringing the total collection to ₹128.13 crore.

Salaar fails to beat Pathaan's box office record

Although Salaar minted ₹251.60 crore on its opening weekend, it failed to shatter the box office record of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. For those who are unaware, the opening weekend collection of SRK's Pathaan is ₹280 crore. While Salaar failed to beat Pathaan's record, the Prabhas starrer is doing exceptionally well at the global box office.

The year that was for Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan made his comeback to movies after 5 years with Pathaan. The superstar starred in the Siddharth Anand film, which continued to be one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. The lifetime box office collection of Pathaan is ₹543.05 crore.

Later, SRK featured in Atlee's Jawan, which is also one of his highest-earning films of 2023 The Atlee directorial easily surpassed the lifetime box office collection of Pathaan. For the uninitiated, the movie minted ₹643.87 crore at the domestic box office. It remains to be seen what would be the lifetime collection of his recently released movie, Dunki.
